October 10, 2005
Arrived back in Fargo where Terry’s brother Mitch had a batch of chili waiting
for us. The next day Mitch and Karen took the day off from work (we had to
really twist their arms) and gave us a tour of some historic (and not) sites. We
went to North Dakota’s first fort, Fort Abercrombie where we encountered our
first “ghosted buildings” and picnicked. We traveled along a Sheyenne River scenic byway,
visited Karen’s uncle’s farm and were wowed by (the world's tallest?) tower of oil cans in
Casselton ND. Dinner this night was squash and apple soup and crusty French
bread…the perfect end to a good autumn day.
