Sauntering, Our travels around the country Maple Syrup Symposium (2007) Terry's cross country bicycle trip It happened to us, crazy but true. So how did I end up in Texas updated videos) |
February 3, 2006 From Langtry we drove through some of the Texas hill country and stopped at Bandera, Texas. In Bandera we discovered the second oldest Polish Catholic Church in the Country, St. Stanislaus. Driving around town trying to see it all before the sun set, we happened on an intriguing looking building with a full parking lot. Turned out to be the Grotto Grill and Coffee Bar where we had an awesome dinner. The restaurant is run and owned by a brother and sister...the bought the building and refurbished it and he taught himself how to cook. We split a Caribbean Afternoon Delight pizza...spicy Jamaican jerked chicken, fresh pineapple, onion, quattro cheese blend, fresh tarragon and avocado. Terry had a Grotto salad...baby greens, dried berries, onions, toasted hazelnuts gorgonzola and a hibiscus flower vinaigrette. Heather had the Roased Poblano Caesar salad...romaine lettuce with cornbread-bacon croutons, cotija cheese and a roasted poblano Caesar dressing. They served beer and wine glasses (you must bring your own wine and corkscrew).
