We stopped in Houston to attend a service at Lakewood Church. We attended the 8:30 service so there were only around 10,000 people in the congregation. About 40,000 people attend the 11:00 service. We'd watched the pastor Joel Osteen on TV back home in Tempe so it was kind of surreal to be attending in person. When we arrived at the church (formerly the Compac Center) we were pegged as first-timers and handed off to an usher. She took us to seats in the third row! Everyone at that church was incredibly friendly. The service itself consisted of some great music, prayers and the pastor's message. A great, positive way to start a new week.

Spent the night in Galveston, Texas so Heather could see some ocean and we could watch the Super Bowl.
